How Combat Works

Mandate Order combines city management with real-time battles. Recruitment, food, equipment, roads, and logistics determine how long an army can stay effective.

Before Recruiting Soldiers

Stabilize food and basic production first. Then make sure the settlement can support recruitment and move supplies toward the battlefield. A large force without a reliable route is an expensive population drain.

Formations and Chariots

Give every formation a clear job: hold a line, protect a flank, pressure a gap, or exploit open ground. Chariots are strongest when terrain and formation leave room to move; do not send them unsupported into a crowded defensive position.

Siege and Enemy Invasions

Before attacking, identify the strongest approach and the defender's supply route. Before defending, keep walls and routes simple enough that your own units can path through them. Protect storage and production, not only the city center.
